BATU SAPI:  The four families who lost their homes in the Kampung Bukit Nenas Karamunting fire on Nov 2, received cash aid from Batu Sapi Member of Parliament Datuk Linda Tsen Thau Lin.

Linda handed over the cash assistance to the affected families when she visited the fire site on Saturday. She was accompanied by her aides including Head Liaison Officer of Batu Sapi MP Office Kong Nyuk Kong.

She hoped the cash aid would help lessen the burden of the families whose houses were razed to the ground during the blaze.

The fire on Nov 2 afternoon left more than 35 people, who are mostly locals, without a home. No casualties were reported in the incident.

The Sandakan Fire and Rescue Department was notified of the blaze at 3.26pm and the firefighters' swift response saved the day.

They succeeded in preventing the blaze from spreading to other houses in the settlement despite the close proximity of the structures in under 15 minutes following their arrival at the location.
