NUR MISUARI CLAIMED MALAYSIAN AS THE ONE BEHIND KIDNAP-FOR RANSOM ACTIVITIES….
.WONG
SANDAKAN – Shocked by the accusation made by Moro
National Liberation Front (MNLF) leader Nur Misuari who fingered a Malaysian as
behind kidnap-for-ransom activities since the 2000 Sipadan incident, DAP Sabah
is clamouring for blood.
“This is a very serious allegation and we must take it
seriously,” said DAP Sabah chairman Stephen Wong, who is also Sandakan member
of Parliament.
“If it is true, then those who are involved in this
activity should be prosecuted as “traitors”. According
to Nur Misuari, Malaysia has hired “his own people” and “offered them millions”
to take part in this activities.”
Due to the seriousness of this accusation which had
impacted Malaysia’s reputation and image, Wong said he believed that police and
the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) would be unable to perform a
thorough investigation.
DAP Sabah, said Wong, is calling for a Royal Commission
on Inquiry (RCI) to lead an independent and comprehensive probe into this
allegation without fear and favor.
He said that there is only one way to know the truth, and
the RCI is the only answer to find out whether Nur Misuari’s accusation is
substantial
or just flawed.
He said a few months ago, when families of four hostages
from Sibu who were abducted by Abu Sayyaf paid 12 million to the kidnappers,
Philippines media claimed that Abu Sayyaf had only received RM9 million out of
this RM12 million.
“And the report claimed that there were a number of
Malaysia and Philippines officials who pocketed the remaining RM3 million,”
charged Wong in a statement Friday.
“DAP Sabah had lodged report to MACC and asked MACC to
probe it based on the media report. However no action had been taken.”
Wong added as a lawmaker, he is committed to bringing up
this issue in the Parliament when it resumes on Monday.
