SANDAKAN: The
heavy downpour which occurred shortly after the flagging off of the Malaysia Day
10KM Run did not dampen the determination of the more than 400 participants.
All participants completed the run
despite the heavy rain and the prize presentation ceremony got underway after
the buffet dinner.
The Malaysia Day 10 KM Run was
organized by Sandakan Yacht Club (SYC) in conjunction with Sandakan Festival

The event was jointly flagged off by
Sandakan Yacht Club commodore Richard Lim and Karamunting Assemblyman Charles
O. Pang at 4pm on Sep 16.
The Sandakan Yacht Club office received
continued to receive a handful of last minute walk in registrations at noon on
the day of the event.
Lim said the event was organised to
commemorate the historic day and also a way to meet people that enjoy
participating in the same activities, apart from making new friends at the same
time.
The run was divided into four
categories namely Male Open, Female Open, Male Veteran and Female Veteran, Lim
said.
In his address Lim thanked the
participants, district police, RELA, St John Ambulance, the organising
committees, SYC general committees, SYC staff and all sponsors for making the
run a huge success.
