SANDAKAN: The Sandakan District Tennis Association (SDTA) will be organizing the 2016 Sandakan Closed Tennis Tournament this May 6 to 8.

SDTA president Fernando D Rulloda said the tournament will be played at the SDTA club house courts in Mile 2 ½ Jalan Utara.

“We will have five categories namely Men’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Veteran Men’s Singles, Veteran Men’s Doubles, Women’s Singles and Women’s Doubles,” Fernando said.

The event is open to players residing in Sandakan, Kinabatangan and Beluran. The organizing committee is using this tournament to select players to represent Sandakan in the 30th Inter-Affiliate Tennis Championship which is hosted by Sandakan end of May, Fernando added.

He added that the Veteran Men’s Singles and Veteran Men’s Doubles are for players aged above 45 or born in/ before 1971.

Fernando said, entrance fees is RM 10 per event per person to be paid before the closing date and upon registration, adding that, closing date for registration is  2 May 2016 at 5pm.

Those who are keen to participate can contact SDTA committees Herman Abdullah (012 815 9661) or Donald Lee (012 818 8150) for registration or further enquiries. Registration can also be made directly in the SDTA club house, Fernando said.
