SANDAKAN: Sandakan Yacht Club (SYC) is getting ready
to host one of the biggest annual sailing event in the east coast of the state
on Nov 22 and 23.
Nearly 40
sailors from SYC, Sabah Sailing Association, Kinabalu Yacht Club and Navy Yacht
Club Kota Kinabalu will be converging in Sandakan for the two day event, SYC
Commodore Daniel Liaw disclosed here yesterday.
“This
regatta incorporates the Sabah Closed 2014 which is endorsed by Sabah Sailing
Association as a ranking event for Sabah State sailors,” Daniel added.
According
to Daniel, Deputy Chief Minister cum State Industrial Development Datuk Raymond
Tan is expected to officiate the prize presentation and closing ceremony on Nov
23.
Preparations
are in the final stages and we thank all those who have come forward to
support/ provide sponsorship for the event including Datuk Raymond Tan, State Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Tawfiq
Abu Bakar Titingan, our elected representatives, individuals, corporate bodies,
SYC members and the SYC general committee, he continued.
Daniel and
SYC Rear Commodore cum Organizing Chairman James Leong inspected the sail boats
at the SYC Boat Park on Sunday.
