SANDAKAN: Newly elected
Sandakan Yacht Club (SYC) commodore Richard Lim (林紫靈) and his committees paid a
courtesy call on Sandakan Municipal Council president Datuk James Wong at his
office in Wisma Perbandaran yesterday.
Lim (林紫靈) briefed James Wong who is
also a Sandakan Yacht Club honorary member, on the upcoming events organized by
Sandakan Yacht Club.
Among the programmes are
the SYC Harvest Festival celebration and Berhala Island outing in May, Borneo
Interport Regatta in October, Sandakan Regatta/ Sabah Closed/ Sandakan River
Race in November, Malaysia Day 10 KM Run in September.
James Wong welcomed efforts
undertaken by Sandakan Yacht Club to complement Sandakan Municipal Council
efforts to promote tourism.
He also commended Sandakan
Yacht Club for having actively embarked on promoting sailing in Sandakan.
Also present during the
courtesy call were vice commodore Paul Wong (王和仁), rear commodore James Leong (梁駿健), honorary secretary Fred
Wong (王惠堅),
honorary treasurer Jeremy Chan (陈在仁), and committee member Chin Nam Hong.
The new Sandakan Yacht Club
committees comprised of four incumbents who retained their posts uncontested in
March’s annual general meeting (AGM). They are James Leong (梁駿健), Fred Wong (王惠堅), Jeremy Chan (陈在仁), and Chin Nam Hong (陈南雄).
Commodore Richard Lim (林紫靈) was the vice commodore in
the previous committee while Paul Wong (王和仁), moved up the rank to take up the vice commodore post.
The two new faces in
the current committee line up are Michael Lim (林子贤) and Devin Wong (王健杰). They together with former committee member Norman Sim
(沈伟聰) were
appointed to fill the three vacant committee member posts after the AGM.
