SANDAKAN:-Liberal Democratic Party is organizing its
annual Education Run in Sandakan on 23rd November 2014, which event
is also held in conjunction with the celebration of LDP’s 25th anniversary.
The event is starting at 6 am in the morning. This event
will be held at the Stadium of Sandakan Sports
Complex and the flag off for the run is estimated at 7 am.
Tsang
Hieng Yee, the Central Youth Chief for Liberal Democratic Party,
who also serves as the organizing chairman for this event, said that this
event is held in order to raise fund for the ten (10)Chinese Primary Schools in Sandakan.
Through this event, it is also hoped that the
people of Sandakan, particularly for the youths, could use this opportunity to
gather, to build rapport and network among each other and to exercise for the
sake of good health and relaxation.
The run is divided into two main categories,
namely the primary
schools category and the open category and each category is also further divided in male and female sub-category.It
is estimated that for the primary schools category, approximately 200 students will take part in the run under the
supervision of their teachers and the enrollment of the students to take
part in the run is solely determined by their respective schools.Registration
for the primary group is free of charge. The route for the primary school
run is about 1.4 km.
As for the Open category, it is
expected that more than 300 participants will take part. The registration fee for
the open group is RM30 per person with
include an official LDP Education Run T-Shirt and a bib number.
The route for
the open group is about 5 KM. Prizes in the form of trophies
and medals will be awarded to the winners of all four (4) sub-categories who
take the places of number one to number ten.
Besides, all runners who
complete the route are also automatically entitled to take part in the luck
draw which offers attractive prizes.
The organizer plea to
everybody from all walks of life to join the run and to help to make the run a
success, besides of playing a part in the fund raising effort for the school
The Organizing Chairman, Tsang Hieng
Yee also pleads to all philanthropists for their generous support in providing
donation into the fund for the schools.All donation procured from this
event will be contributed to the ten (10) Chinese Primary Schools in Sandakan, after
taking into account all the expenditures.
On the race day, a
variety of charitable stalls will also be set up at the Stadium of the Sports
Complex which sell
a variety of foods, snacks, apparels, goods and services in the hope to assist to raise more fund. Organizing
Chairman, Tsang Hieng Yee said that thee vent has been held for many years since year 1997 in different district within Sabah
and now it is Sandakan’s turn.
The organizer shall extend invitation to the many NGOs, hash houses, sports association Sandakan youth
organizations to participate in the run as well as to welcome all
generous people of Sandakan to donate to the fund in order to assist the
schools in their daily operation, maintenance, renovation,
building and construction.
