SANDAKAN: Batu Sapi Member of Parliament Datuk Linda Tsen Thau Lin visited
the Sri Harapan Senior Citizens Home in Jalan Sibuga recently as part of her
ongoing programmes to visit her constituency.
Linda was accompanied by her aides
including Head Liaison Officer of Batu Sapi MP Office Kong Nyuk Thou. She was
taken on a tour of the Home by Sri Harapan officials to view the facilities and
to meet with the residents.
The Batu Sapi MP also spent time
chatting with the residents where she also presented goodies to them. Linda
also gave 24 plastic chairs for use by residents.
She also met with 80-year-old Chia Park
Hu who moved into Sri Harapan through the arrangements of the Batu Sapi MP
office. The elderly man was made homeless in the Kampung Pukat fire in October.
Linda is also assisting Chia to reunite
with his family in Peninsula Malaysia with the help of the Welfare Department
and also media.
Chia came to Sandakan more than 10
years ago where he had been staying alone in a rented room in Jambatan Satu ,
Kampung Pukat. He used to earn a living by selling hand crafted ornaments at
the nearby Tanah Merah Market.
The house where he was renting the room
was among the 14 structures gutted during the blaze and Chia lost almost all
his belongings except for important documents. POSTED BY FST NEWS
