Media Statement by DAP Sabah Deputy Chairman cum MP for
Sandakan Stephen Wong Tien Fatt in Sandakan on 4 February 2015:
DAP condemns BN Sabah on Teresa Kok's Ban
I am utterly disgusted and shocked when hear the news
that DAP national vice chairman Teresa Kok was banned from entering Sabah
today.
She is scheduled to attend and witness the installation
of DAP Sandakan Wanita wing tonight. When she touch down at Sandakan airport,
she was told that she was banned to enter Sabah by an immigration officer and
she was sent back to KL immediately without further negotiation.
I am disappointed to what happen to her done by Barisan
Nasional Sabah government. Is she a terrorist and doing crime in Sabah?
Apparently it is political suppression against her and exploiting her right as
a citizen.
Although we agree that Sabah has autonomy on immigration
as promised in 20 points and constitution, but it could not be used as
political tool to oppress opposition's leader. She hasn't done any illegal
practice in Sabah!
It is obviously double standard when so many illegal
immigrants can easily enter into Sabah without legal document but Teresa was
treated in different way. I demand Sabah state government to explain why is
this happen?
I also demand Sabah immigration unit to reveal the name
list of banned politicians especially from opposition party immediately.
Also, DAP Sabah wants Sabah state government to remove
Teresa and any other political leaders from the blacklist and respect the
spirit of law behind the constitution.
Is government dares to ban Ismail Sabri on his racist
remarks and also Ibrahim Ali as well as other racist leaders from UMNO and
Perkasa if the same standard is applied?
