SANDAKAN: A total of 116 participants have confirmed they
will be coming for the 2015 Asia Pacific Interport Balut Championship to be staged in this east coast town this November.
Sandakan Yacht
Club (SYC) won their bid to host the event during the championship in Singapore
last year. The Asia Pacific Interport Balut is one of the most prestigious Balut
competitions in this region with participation from Malaysia, Singapore,
Thailand and the Philippines.
Balut is a
game of dice created by an American soldier stationed in the Philippines and is
a popular pastime of Danish businessmen overseas.
There is also
a different version of Balut played in Members’ Clubs in Malaysia, Singapore,
Thailand and the Philippines which follow a set of rules established in 1978 at
Singapore Town Club.
The 2015 Asia
Pacific Interport Balut Championship will be held at Four Points by Sheration
Sandakan on Nov 28 and 29 with participants expected at more than 150.
SYC Commodore
Daniel Liaw(廖伟雄) briefed Sandakan Municipal Council
president Datuk James Wong on the preparations for the event , during the
courtesy call on Wong at his office in Wisma Perbandaran.
The Asia
Pacific Interport Balut championship is one of the biggest international events
to be held in Sandakan this year.
Daniel (廖伟雄) also presented the invitation for the 10KM Malaysia Day Run to Wong.
The event will be held on Sep 16.

during the courtesy call were SYC Rear Commodore James Leong (梁駿健), Honorary Secretary Fred Wong (王惠堅),
Honorary Treasurer Jeremy Chan (陈在仁), Committee
Members Norman Sim(沈伟聰), Chin Nam Hong(陈南雄)
and Paul Wong(王和仁) .
