MPS WORKERS DEMOLISHED OF CONCRETE HOUSE AT TANAH MERAH

SANDAKAN: The remaining concrete wall of a house in Tanah Merah gutted by fire on Oct 27 was demolished by Sandakan Municipal Council (MPS) workers two days ago.

Members of the public fearing for the worst should the remaining wall of the house collapsed, raised their concerns with Batu Sapi Member of Parliament Datuk Linda Tsen Thau Lin.

The matter was brought to the attention of MPS by the Batu Sapi MP Office and it was demolished by a team of MPS workers on Wednesday morning to prevent untowardsincidents.

Present to witness the demolition work was Head Liaison Officer of the Batu Sapi MP Office Kong Nyuk Thou.

The concrete structure and three blocks of old wooden shophouses  situated along Jalan Leila in Tanah Merah were razed in the fire on Oct 27.

However, there were no reports of casualties in the blaze which happened before 2am.

The three blocks wooden shophouses each consisted of ten shop units on the ground floor with dwellings on the floor above.
